The hotel is named for Julia Tuttle, who is mostly credited for first and building complicated day Miami during a spin of a century. Designer Stephen Busto also drew impulse from a supposed “Mother of Miami.” The run facilities strange Cuban tile floors with low-slung, mid-century-style upholstered banquettes and cafeteria tables. Fun, tongue-in-cheek “dipped” portraits hang from a walls, divulgence usually half of a painting.
“We wanted it to feel like it competence be Julia’s vital room, like a Mediterranean garden party,” pronounced a hotel deputy during a new visit.
Rooms take on a minimalist cultured with plain ash lumber flooring, gray built-in cabinetry for closets, nightstands and headboards and beds that can be converted into dual twins or one aristocrat with a appreciative pink-coral accent wall.
The Julia owned by SMS Lodging, that has additional properties in Miami and Key West. The judgment is identical to a group’s Key West skill NYAH where automobile (and surprisingly comfortable) twin beds underline prominently into a no-frills design. It’s one of my favorite budget-friendly hotels on a island.
At The Julia, bathrooms are agreeably complicated with a glass-enclosed rainfall shower, gray tile walls and a porcelain vessel penetrate with Tara Smith vegan toiletries.
But make no mistake: Quarters are tight, and even a 5 Ibis Rooms braggadocio double-height ceilings with paper crane-like installations unresolved above a bed by Japanese artist Yumiko Mizutani do small to open adult a space.
Still, with stream rates on engagement sites starting during $86 per night (the hotel is now promotion 15% off rudimentary rates of $189 per night regulating promo formula GRAND), you’re removing one of a best deals on a beach inside a clean, new space.
Other facilities embody interrelated continental breakfast with French pastries, booze and cheese happy hour, WiFi, beach chairs and a Julia beach receptacle to lift your effects a brief two-block wander to a beach.
