Testimony of former El Faro soldier questions ship’s safety

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A former organisation member of a load boat that sank after losing thrust in a whirly questioned because a ship’s owners didn’t do some-more to strengthen a crew.

The Florida Times-Union reports (http://bit.ly/2lQaSzH ) that former means seaman Marvin Hearman III testified Tuesday before a U.S. Coast Guard Marine Board of Investigation in Jacksonville, Florida.

The El Faro sank Oct. 1, 2015, while roving from Jacksonville to Puerto Rico. All 33 aboard died.

Hearman testified that Tote Services Inc. managers mostly called a boat to tell captains to delayed down and preserve fuel, though didn’t call to advise a organisation they were headed into a clever hurricane.
