Poet And You Know It

Fans of fluent and musical hymn are holding over Governors Island this weekend for a 7th Annual New York City Poetry Festival.

Over 250 poets from 75 organizations will seem on a event’s main stages, yet there’s copiousness of other areas to explore. Vendor’s Village will offer a possibility to buy merchandise from internal artists and booksellers, while brave poets can try their lines on a Ring of Daisies open mic. There’s copiousness for your other senses too, including art installations as good as a drink and booze garden.

The festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It’s giveaway (though donations are welcome!), but register on Eventbrite to be entered to win a tote bag filled with sealed copies of books by a event’s featured readers.

Animation Sensation

Who pronounced cartoons are for kids?

Animation Block Party, the largest animation festival on a East Coast, earnings for a 14th year. Offering a best in independent, professional, and tyro films narrowed down from tons of submissions, this festival takes place during Brooklyn’s Rooftop Films and BAMcinématek.

To give we an thought of what to expect, final summer’s module featured a 30-year anniversary screening of Transformers: The Movie, a Pink Panther Collection, and mixed shorts programs.
